Yesterday, on the 20th anniversary of Joey Ramone's passing, Netflix and STXfilms announced Saturday Night Live actor/comedian Pete Davidson will portray the punk rocker in an original film.
The film will be based on I Slept with Joey Ramone, the 2009 memoir written by Mickey Leigh, Joey's younger brother. Davidson and director David Orley (who collaborated with the comedian on the film Big Time Adolescence and the stand-up special Alive from New York) wrote the initial treatment; Leigh will serve as co-executive producer. Ramone's estate has provided their full cooperation and support, according to a press release.

Production and release dates remain unconfirmed.
