Micky Dolenz will honor the contributions of his bandmates in The Monkees with a series of solo shows in April.
The shows, billed as "Micky Dolenz Celebrates The Monkees," will combine live performance with multimedia (including unseen photos from the singer's own archives) to pay tribute to his bandmates Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith, who passed away in 2012, 2019 and 2021, respectively. Dolenz and his seven-piece backing band will perform all the classic Monkees hits as well as songs that each other member either wrote or popularized, including the Nesmith originals "Listen to the Band" and "Different Drum," the Tork-penned tunes "For Pete's Sake" and "Can You Dig It?" and Jones-sung favorites "Valleri" and "Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)."
“I felt it was important to gather the fans and properly celebrate the lives of Davy, Mike and Peter,” Dolenz said in a statement. “People have been contacting me, requesting that I honor them in a way where the extraordinary impact of The Monkees can be properly acknowledged. We spent such a great deal of time together; they were like my brothers, and I want to share some of the great joy we had together.”
Tickets for the shows go on sale Feb. 11, with pre-sales commencing on Feb. 8 with the code "CELEBRATE." A full list of dates is below.
