Indie rock singer Lucy Dacus is Halloween ready with her latest holiday-themed cover of Phil Collins’ 1981 hit, “In The Air Tonight.”

Dacus stylizes the track with layered vocal echoes and ominous synth lines, giving the tune an eerie hollowness. Her rendition of the Collins classic maintains the song’s original unsettling melodrama, down to the iconic gated (drum) reverb that Collins first introduced to popular music in the 1980’s.

Dacus shared in a press release, “It’s tense, dark and so much fun, as a good Halloween should be. This was the most fun I’ve ever had in a studio.”

This spooky single is Dacus’ newest release in her series of holiday-themed tributes, having previously covered Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in The Dark,” for Springsteen’s birthday and Edith Piaf’s “La Vie En Rose,” for Valentine’s Day.
