Dolly Parton is such a legend that she told Elvis Presley "no" at the height of his fame. It was decision that would pay huge dividends years later, she explained to AC/DC's Brian Johnson on his TV show, A Life on the Road.

Parton reveals how the song was written to get her husband to listen to her after a fight, and later explains how she had to deny Elvis the chance to record the song because she refused to give up any of the publishing rights. While she was heartbroken at the time, it would prove to be a lucrative decision years later when Whitney Houston's version of the track was a blockbuster hit.
