With the band’s debut album not even six months old in America, The Rolling Stones returned with 12 X 5 in October of 1964. It was something of a rush job by the group’s label. Given the success of the Stones in the US, the UK’s Five by Five EP was expanded with seven more songs for the American market. Packed primarily with cover tunes, among those tracks was the band’s first take on “Time is On My Side.” The band would re-record the track for second UK LP, The Rolling Stones No. 2. That version would go on to be the definitive take best known by Stones fans around the world. Give the OG version a spin below.
