In Metallica's 40-year history, a lot of wild concerts have taken place. But the band's May 7, 2022 set at Estádio Couto Pereira in Curitiba, Brazil might've been one of the wildest - not for the set itself, but something that happened during it.
Joice M. Figueiró attended the show while 39 weeks pregnant; as the band's final encore, "Enter Sandman," took place, she delivered her son, Luan, in the stadium. As she went into labor during the end of the set, medical personnel intended to transport her to a nearby hospital - a plan abandoned when all parties realized how close to delivery she was.

"It was a mix of emotions," Figueiró, who was cleared by doctors to attend the show, told The Washington Post. "But there’s also the feeling of being able to tell people that this happened because Metallica is one of the bands we love the most.”
The band was made aware of the unlikely event and congratulated the new mom in a series of Instagram stories. Later, it turned out, frontman James Hetfield went a step further, surprising the baby's parents with a phone call.
