David Lee Roth Speaks: "Van Halen's Finished"

Where have all the good times gone? Original Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth has dashed the hopes of fans around the world by declaring that the classic lineup of the band is effectively over.

The sobering revelation came during an interview with the Talkin' Rock with Meltdown podcast while Roth was discussing the much-rumored Van Halen reunion tour originally slated for last summer.

"That's been canceled a number of times. And I think Van Halen's finished and this (forthcoming Vegas residency) is the next phase. I've inherited the band de facto, whatever that means. I think it means if you inherit it, carry this proudly. Van Halen isn't gonna be coming back in the fashion that you know. And that being said, Eddie's got his own story to tell. Not mine to tell it."

This latest and seemingly final nail in the classic Van Halen coffin follows Roth making similar claims during a recent interview with a Phoenix radio station, saying that he's now "the face of Van Halen from this point on, most likely."

The singer will launch the nine-show David Lee Roth: ROCKS VEGAS residency at the House of Blues in January 2020. The show will feature tracks from Van Halen and Roth's solo career.
