In the new teaser trailer for The Sponge Movie: Sponge on the Run, SpongeBob's precious pet Gary has been "snailnapped."

The film's synopsis traces how the pineapple-dwelling sea sponge met Gary at Camp Coral one summer. When Gary goes MIA in present day, SpongeBob (voiced by Tom Kenny) leaves his beloved home in Bikini Bottom with Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) to trek towards the Lost City of Atlantic City on a quest to bring Gary back.

On this incredible journey, they experience the most significant and spiritual encounter of all, featuring an incredible cameo of none other than Keanu Reeves (specifically, his floating head) in the form of sage tumbleweed.

"Call me Sage," Reeves announces. I'm made out of sage and I am a sage, so it works out pretty well," he gloats, as his eye literally twinkles.

The teaser features an epic soundtrack - including Motley Crue's 1989 "Kickstart My Heart," which has also been used in the Motley Crue biopic  The Dirt. Also lending voices to the forthcoming Paramount film are Tom Kenny, Awkwafina, and Reggie Watts.

The movie, available both in 2D and 3D, will hit theaters May 22, 2020.
