The new deluxe edition of Chicago's famed 1971 run at Carnegie Hall is a lot. Seriously - 16 CDs covering every note the jazz-rock icons performed over eight sets at the legendary Manhattan concert hall. It's far more than the original four-album box released the fall after the shows (which climbed all the way up to No. 3 on the Billboard 200) and even more than the 4CD set the band released in 2005.

So it's only natural that you'd want a super fan or two to guide you through the highlights and meaning of these unforgettable shows, right? That's where the newest episode of the Rhino Podcast comes in: host Rich Mahan links up with Jimmy Pardo and David Wild, a pair of Chicago authorities who made some important contributions to the new box.
Of course, these two weren't just plucked off the street. Wild has been a celebrated music journalist for decades, contributing to Rolling Stone as well as serving as a writer/producer on the Grammy Awards. As for Pardo, this Chicago-born comedian is well-known as the warm-up act for Conan O'Brien's stint as host of The Tonight Show and subsequent TBS talk show, and is something of a podcast pioneer, having hosted Never Not Funny for 15 years and counting. Both have written liner notes for the expansive new package.
