They're among the most quintessential photos in KISS history: Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley, resplendent in the band's Destroyer costumes, dangling precariously from the top of the Empire State Building.

The band spent the entire day of June 24, 1976, with photographer Barry Levine for a NYC-centric shoot. The group spent some time in Central Park before heading to the peak of the Empire State Building.
"We were nuts! We would do anything you would imagine," Gene Simmons recalled of the photos (via KISS Online) "Let's go on top of the Empire State Building and hang over the side for a photo. That'll look cool. Let's go!"
"We were all scared shitless," admitted singer Paul Stanley. "You could see one arm and one hand of each guy and the other hand was holding on for dear life. It's pretty awesome to be up there and look and see three states. We climbed the ladder in those boots. It was a pretty interesting time."
