The newest member of the Eagles is leaving the nest.

The band announced that touring singer/guitarist Deacon Frey will depart the band, having joined their live line-up in 2017 - a year after the death of his father, founding vocalist/guitarist Glenn Frey.

"After some weeks of reflection, [Deacon] now feels that it is time for him to forge his own path," the statement reads. "We understand, completely, and we support him in whatever he wishes to pursue in the years ahead."

Frey had previously been announced as sitting out the latest leg of the band's ongoing Hotel California tour due to an undisclosed illness. The band currently consists of founder Don Henley on vocals and drums, longtime members Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit on guitar and bass, and country singer Vince Gill on guitar and vocals.
