Rod Stewart has been busy. Over the past 26 years, the classic rocker has been pursuing his passion for model trains, building a massive layout that's an impressive 124 feet long x 23 feet wide.

Stewart has revealed the completed project for the magazine Railway Modeller, which features the singer on the cover of its latest issue.

"It's the landscape I like. Attention to detail, extreme detail, is paramount," Stewart told the magazine, via Daily Mail. "There shouldn't be any unsightly gaps or pavements that are too clean."

Stewart often worked on the layout while on tour, bringing along the tools of the trade to set up in hotel rooms around the world.

'We'd tell them in advance and they were really accommodating, taking out the beds and providing fans to improve air circulation and ventilation,' he explained of pursuing the project while on the road.

Stewart gets a kick out of stunning guests at his LA home when he turns on the huge model trail layout.

"When I take on something creative like this, I have to give it a 110 per cent. For me, it's addictive. I started, so I just had to finish. I'm lucky I had the room. If I'd realized at the start it would have taken so long, I'd have probably said No! No! Nah!"
