In 2010, Neil shared with Classic Rock his perspective on religion, "I don't believe in religion, but I'll see Skylar again," in reference to his four-year-old daughter who passed away in 1995 from cancer. "I've seen her since she passed away. I know she is somewhere else."

He added his thoughts on the meaning of life, stating, "It's about enjoying the moment, because nothing lasts forever, but it's also about giving something back.
