David Crosby has spoken out about the death of Beckett Cypher, his biological son with Melissa Etheridge. The 21-year-old passed away Wednesday from an opioid overdose.

After the grim news of Beckett's death broke Wednesday, Crosby briefly commented on a tweet that suggested he was just a "donor" for former couple Etheridge and Julie Cypher, to which the iconic musician replied, "Not true."

Another Twitter user shared their condolences for the legendary rocker - who also biologically fathered the couple's 23-year-old daughter Bailey -  "While I know that you were a surrogate, I also know that you just have lost a son. I'm sorry, I know you've had a rough year." Crosby gave another short reply, "Maybe it's a test."

The singer also mentioned the ongoing tension with his former bandmates Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young to a tweet that questioned whether "even one of the CSN&Y guys will reach out...regarding the loss of Beckett," commenting, "I doubt it...but you never know."

Etheridge revealed the heartbreaking news of Beckett's death on Wednesday in a statement, sharing, "Today I joined the hundreds of  thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction. My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today.”

Bailey took to Instagram to mourn the loss of her brother with the caption, "I don't know what to say. Today we lost my brother. Too heartbroken and overwhelmed to be eloquent but appreciate all those who have reached out. I love you, Beckett. Fly high and watch over us."
