The brothers revealed the news today on the Howard Stern show, also announcing that they will herald their tour with an intimate gig tonight at New York's Bowery Ballroom, with an additional performance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on Wednesday. These will be the first performances by the duo since December 2013.

Joining them on the upcoming tour is guitarist Isiah Mitchell of psych-rock band Earthless, bassist Tim LeFebvre, keyboard player Joel Robinow, and drummer Ojha of prog-pop group Once and Future Band.

The confirmed tour kicks off at Austin's Austin360 Amphitheater on June 17 and go on throughout the summer, with the final gig closing out at the Forum in Los Angeles.

"I think this is pure. We went off into a lot of things. There's no jamming," Chris told Rolling Stone. "There's no extraneous stuff. This is the purest Black Crowes that people first [heard] ... I hope we reconnect with some people who lost their way with us because of all of our other shit we we're doing."

Chris also confessed to Stern that he had to flesh out some personal issues in order for the reunion to happen. "A lot of things have changed for me in the last two years. I was in a relationship that was failing. I was in a negative place. I was dealing with depression. And I'm sitting over here like, 'Why am I saying bad things about my brother?'"

Added Rich, "No one is here to a dick. We love this music. We're musicians. We're brothers. We love each other. We love this opportunity ... Changing the context with Chris and I and all new people is a much healthier place for us."
